Referrals made easy

School counselors are the super heroes of our schools. They wear many hats and play an integral role in creating the healthy school climate that matters so much to all students. To support school counselors in their special education related tasks, this week’s FREE tool is a nifty flow chart illustrating the school-based special education referral process. What happens once a referral is made? When should the student’s evaluation be complete? What else should school counselors know about referrals? It’s all spelled out in this simple graphic. The tool comes from CEC’s “What School Counselors Need to know About Special Education and Students With Disabilities,” a must-have resource that walks school counselors through their role in providing special education services while also explaining how to tackle the many special education-related tasks that can arise every day. CEC’s Tool of the Week is a free resource designed to support you in your special education practice. Subscribe and it’ll be automatically delivered to your inbox! Get your Tool of the Week.
